Radio 5 Live tonight - genuinely don't understand!

I was clearing up in the kitchen earlier and found I couldn't stand Sara Cox's R2 evening show for a second longer (after she spent about 5 minutes interviewing a 5 year old called Cooper) so switched to 5 Live. It was about 5.15pm, something like that and I listened for about half an hour.

So I've just come back into the kitchen and 5 Live is still on. I'm just pottering about and putting our M&S Valentines dine in for 2 dinner in the oven (this is what constitutes Valentines celebs when you've been married 30 years Grin) and I've heard the same two features I listened to just an hour earlier repeated. A guy doing 5 ultra marathons for Comic Relief and a discussion about the price of Beyonce tickets. It was quite extensive repeated coverage from a little over an hour ago!

Is it always like this on 5 Live?

She's incapable of saying the word wife. It becomes Waaaaaassssrrff.

That "my waaaiiifffe" rubbish isn't a mispronunciation but a direct copy of Steve Wright's way of saying it that way. There's no longer much originality or talent on BBC R2, unfortunately.

Really? I don't remember him doing that!

Yep, he'd say wife in that style. Sara's simply mimicked him. But hey...
