Help. I shaved my face!!!!

beardednotlady · 14/02/2025 15:00

I was on my way out yesterday (in a huge rush) and noticed a couple of big chin hairs.

I couldn't find my tweezers and had no time to look thoroughly, so I picked up my razor and shaved them off.

Am I crazy? Is it really bad? Am I now going to be a bearded lady and grow a full beard? 🧔‍♀️

I have dermaplanning every 6-8 weeks. No beard has appeared yet! I do however have one very wiry (suspiciously pube looking) wiry WHITE hair that randomly appears on my chin? It goes from none existent to witch like and an inch long overnight, the little shit! I’m on it with tweezers in a flash.

LostInAMist · 14/02/2025 18:43

I tried using one of those face shaver thingys the other day, then I went out and walked the dog. It was a bit cold and breezy... Holy heck, my face was stinging!! I don't think I'll be in a rush to do that again!

FlatErica · 14/02/2025 18:44

What do you think dermaplaning is?!

I get dermaplaning every few weeks. Can't drive at the moment so it has not been done for a while. Honestly it just looks like how it looked before. Lots of peach fuzz with the separate spiky dark bristles. I am plucking them for the most part, but also zapping with my IPL thing and hoping to keep it manageable until I can get back to the salon. Otherwise home shaving/planing it is

Nothing will happen at all!

Women go to salons every day to have a shave, they just call it micro blading . You’ve just given yourself an expensive facial treatment for free.

Gonners · 14/02/2025 20:58

Keep calm and wait, OP! I was An Hairy Woman in my youth, though not on my face. Armpits, legs and arms flourished, though - and as for pubes, well, nobody actually asked "Is that a cat in your lap?" but I sometimes wondered.

I kept legs and pits under control with shaving, let the sun bleach the arms and ignored the luxuriant pubes. And then ... the sole joy of menopause ... suddenly it was all gone! Not a single hair on legs and arms, a bit of armpit fuzz which didn't grow if I left it alone, and tragically depleted pubes. So just hang in there, but maybe don't shave the moustache and beard.

Back on topic. I highly recommend IPL

Don't fret, you won't grow a cock and balls any time soon!

Blinky21 · 14/02/2025 23:07

Total myth that shaving causes more hair growth

I shave my cheeks, chin and sides of my face every week. I think make up sits better without the soft fluffy hair I get. I’m 44 now but been doing it most of my adult life!

Totally agree, my make-up sits beautifully on a newly smooth face! I get the odd rogue tough hair but usually it’s just peach fuzz I remove.
Nothing bad happens!

ZaphodandMimi · 14/02/2025 23:49

I have left the soft hair alone - especially since I read that it was what gave Marilyn Monroe the soft focus effect on her skin.
It is very fair though.

That said, I also read that the continual exfoliation by shaving is what helps men's skin wrinkle less. Too much though and the skin barrier gets compromised, and then there are more problems!

TheTreeTinBow · 15/02/2025 03:22

Can you tolerate growing it long enough to wax?
After waxing it should grow back to how it used to be. No blunt ends.
It only needs to be a 1/4 of an inch long.
Wax strips are harsh, Lycon’s gentler, ideal for the face.

My teen dd shaves her face with these face shaver things. It’s the done thing apparently. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07VRSTQ7Z?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title I just roll my eyes.

One of mine has the exact same! She doesn’t even have any facial hair?

Its called dermaplaning.
Microblading is semi permanent cosmetic makeup, like tattooing your eyebrows for example.

I read that Marilyn shaved her face very often! Maybe she went through phases.

I use a men's 4 blade razor to do my peach fuzz once a week. Much better than dermaplaning. No stubble issues at all.

This! Good exfoliation and my facial skin is so smooth, my serums and creams absorb so much better after a shave. Once left it two weeks after a late bout of chicken pox and my word I was so furry I was like a werewolf. So I do it every five days or so now!

ICanTellYouMissMe · 15/02/2025 14:24

I shave my face weekly, have done for years, no beard yet.

I don't know where this stupid myth has arisen from really, probably to induce women to buy other shit they don't need.

Stripytablecloth · 14/02/2025 16:08

I never understand why people think that shaving means that all of a sudden much more, thicker, darker hair would grow. Where would be the science in that? All shaving is, is trimming a hair short. It simply can’t affect what else grows or even how that hair might grow back. As pp said all it can do is give it a blunter end

I find the blunt end is the problem because it makes it appear thicker, it’s not any thicker but just appears to be

Or a band name...

I sometimes shave the long hairs that spring out of my neck because the little buggers are Tweezer Avoiders (also a good band name incidentally) and sometimes I haven't got time to spend ages creeping up on them.

Bonbon249 · 15/02/2025 21:04

I use an epilator - it tweaks hair out at speed.

Beanus · 16/02/2025 11:24

been shaving my peach fuzz for a few years now and it grows back exactly as peach fuzz - no short stubby prickly hairs

Wendolino · 16/02/2025 11:27

Yes, 50 more will grow out of each pore. You'd be best finding a circus now.

MoonWoman69 · 16/02/2025 12:34

I have a bit of a growth of random chin and neck hairs I regularly pluck out, they come back the same, although I've noticed not as quickly now! I have some decent tweezers, a 10x magnification mirror and a clip on book light! But if I'm going somewhere and doing a full face of make up, I do shave the peach fuzz, as it's easier and quicker! Always grows back the same, never any thicker or spikier! I do have some dermablades, but they seem to make my face sore, even though I do it gently!
Anyway, you'll be fine OP!
