Will they be ok with this? I can't get in contact with them

I booked a man with a van to take some furniture from my house to a friends house. They are coming in less than an hour. Friend just called to tell me she no longer wants it. Been calling man with van and also sent a message but so far no answer.

I would still like them to take the furniture out of my house and just leave it outside my door, I would pay them the same as if they took it to friends house..

I could then get the council to take it as bulky waste.

is man with van likely to be ok with this?

Sounds like an easy job for them, tbh!

ginasevern · 14/02/2025 11:22

Pretty inconsiderate friend! Man with van shouldn't object to a much easier job.

Could man with a van take it to the tip for you? If you're paying same and they have to use less petrol and time I can't see why they'd object.

Hang on, why don't you just get him to take it to the tip, or a charity shop (ring ahead if you do this). Otherwise you'll have to pay the council as well?

May not be posdible - gor our local tip we have to apply for a residents permit (free) to take large loads to avoid commercial waste.

Elleherd · 14/02/2025 16:08

Here vans have to book a long time in advance and residency requires proving, and that they aren't commercial and list what they are tipping.
Suspect he's long been and gone now, but yes driver should be fine to put it outside and go home empty for same fee. No reason not to.

Can anyone recommend a man with a van to move a bit of furniture and help with the handling of same?

This is an international site.

You need to find someone local. I'd suggest asking people you know, or on your local Facebook site.
