Use of laughing emojis

Someone has just replied to one of my posts on Facebook with several (6) laughing emojis and a skull and crossbones.
What does this mean to you?
I personally think it's horrible.

I think it probably means you should block them. Nasty. If they've got a comment to make they should use words.

It entirely depends what your post was? Was it meant to be funny?

pictoosh · 13/02/2025 08:27

What was your post about? Context needed.

GretchenWienersHair · 13/02/2025 08:28

The skull and crossbones means “I’m dead”, as in dying with laughter. They obviously found whatever you posted very funny.

Nodlikeyouwerelistening · 13/02/2025 08:29

If your post was funny it means they found it so funny they’re “dead”. Not literally of course. They could also be being snarky. It really depends on context but essentially they are saying that’s so funny they are dying.

SabreIsMyFave · 13/02/2025 08:29

As has been said, context is everything. What did you say?

BurntBroccoli · 13/02/2025 08:32

Apologies- it was a comment about the environment, NVZ runoff and use of pesticides in farming so not funny at all.

I've never come across it and thought it meant I should die for saying it at first. I felt horrible anyway at its use.

Do you mind me asking how old you are, OP? I don’t mean that rudely, I just ask because it’s been common use on social media for a very long time, but older people who didn’t have social media in their teen years onwards don’t seem to be able to decode emoji hieroglyphs as easily as those who did grow up with it.

Other posters are correct context matters - given your clarification I think my first comment applies.

I'm always accidentally pressing the wrong emojis on FB ,don't over think it.

Relocatethecockringsbeforethemormonsarrive · 13/02/2025 09:10

I think you'll have to grow a thicker skin honestly. Or stop commenting on Facebook posts. Some laughing emojis and a skull are on the very very tame end. I'm sorry you were offended though.

I'm late 50s but have been using social media since 2008. Internet since 1995.
I don't have TikTok though so maybe it's a new thing.

Anyway - still think it's nasty. Just reply in writing if you don't agree with what I've said.
The person who did it had lots of Union Jacks on their profile.

Union Jacks on profile. Enough said.

Skull and crossbones means dying laughing.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 13/02/2025 13:24

Is this a friend or a random? Don't engage with randoms would be my advice.

pictoosh · 13/02/2025 16:07

Is this just a random person?

Wouldn't give it another single thought.
