There are bungalows around here with home alarm systems for breaks ins and there’s a home alarm that’s been going off for the past 25 minutes it’s the middle of the night every now and then it stops for a minute then starts again

Do you know the neighbours to call/go over? Did you call your local station?

How did you want us to ease your anxiety?

If an alarm was going off in my street i would ring the police
Because you know, Alarms are to not only scare intruders off but also alert people near by / neighbours

POTC · 13/02/2025 00:54

Ring the police then, non emergency number if you prefer. If an alarm is going off that should be the default reaction.

Anxious about what?

VerityUnreasonble · 13/02/2025 09:03

Was there a power cut? Ours goes off if there is a power cut and (annoyingly) doesn't stop until power is restored.

Miratea · 13/02/2025 17:26

I don’t know the neighbours so I didn’t want to get involved. I thought someone else might call the police but wasn’t sure if everyone else was thinking the same thing. It did go off in the end. There wasn’t a power cut as far as I’m aware

I really do not know what the point of your post was

‘I thought someone else would phone the police’ ‘I dont know them’

Why???? Ffs!!!
Someone’s life could of been at risk (Violent intruder)
and your first thought was
‘I know, i’ll post on mumsnet)

Lets hope if you ever need help, your neighbours will help you regardless if they know you or not

The mind boggles!!!!!

Gosh.. you clearly weren’t that anxious then!

An alarm stated in the middle of the night near me a few weeks ago. It carried on into the day. Non emergency police were not interested as I couldn’t see anyone in need and there wasn’t an obvious break in, they told me to contact the council due to the noise pollution.

SunsetCocktails · 13/02/2025 18:05

The police stopped coming out to alarms going off years ago unless you can actually see that someone appears to be breaking in. Im assuming they still come out for monitored alarms.
