Any hairdressers around? please help me!

Posting agian here as no response in health and beauty. Madly trying to save money this year. Stupidly convinced into trying a box dye to cover my grey instead of my usual dark blondey highlights. Big mistake. It has turned out light brown with a coppery hue (on the bright side has at least covered the grey!). I hate it. Having deep regret at my penny-pinching. Can any hairdressers advise if there is anything that can be done (ie would it be possible to add highlights to lift it a little or would that not work? Could a toner tone down the copperyness?) or do I just need to wait for it to fade/grow out and cry every time I look in the mirror for the next 6 months?! I won't try a colour remover as they are apparently very damaging and that's the last thing I need. I'm going to reach out to my usual hairdresser for advice but am prepared for her to tell me what a fool I've been! Thanks.

Head and shoulders is good to remove hair dye or you could buy a hair stripper from boots. I wouldn't recommend putting highlights over red could turn green but I am not a hairdresser just talking from experience x

Highlights will work, if you go to a hairdresser they'll sort it.

Thanks all. My hairdresser advised to wash with a clarifying shampoo (or basic head and shoulders) as much as poss over next few weeks. She thinks based on knowing my hair that it will lift quite quickly. She will then work some highlights through in a few weeks time. Feeling a bit better now. It has at least hidden the grey and looks quite glossy.

And by the way, I do realise that this is such a minor problem in the grand scheme of things. I do however have some fairly major and serious other problems/stresses going on so feeling like crap about my appearance is an added blow.

Thanks. The colour strippers are very damaging so won't resort to that, but thanks for replying, apreciated.
