What colour are your living room walls?

I am planning to redecorate my living room in the spring. The walls are currently white. The sofa is grey and I have a dark blue armchair. What colour should I use to update the room?

I like dark blue but I know that has been in for a long time. I was looking at the earthy/terracotta colours or a pale sage green or pale teal (not bright blue.)

Has anyone decorated recently? What colour do you have and how do you find it?

We have sage green and a cream colour - I believe it was called sand or something similar.
I have a grey sofa and armchair and have sage green and cream cushions and throws.

My living room is Blue Heather by Benjamin Moore. I love it. I have blue sofas, black accents and a grey rug.

Whole room is stone green by Dulux heritage, with light silvery grey carpet and sofa and dark walnut type furniture. I love it.

One of ours is F and B Inchyra Blue, the other Dead Salmon.

Our living room is navy (Sapphire Springs by Dulux) and it's gorgeous. We also have dark grey sofas. I've put up white curtains with a navy/grey leaf pattern on them. We have south- and west-facing windows so it's a very bright room.

A duck egg blue. But I'm ready for a change. I fancy a dark red with some William Morris pattern type wall paper.

isitspring · 09/02/2025 09:48

All those sound lovely.

I think I mean duck egg blue when I say pale teal!

Ivory walls with blood orange chimney breast (might be crown or Dulux feature wall paint) it looks gorgeous with the black cast iron fireplace. Floor is original 1917 stripped floor boards.

Sage green.

also- “dead salmon”! What a name for a paint colour! 😂

White as were in a brand new house. Have just painted one wall Egyptian Cotton in my daughters bedroom as we start to add some warmth into the house.
I think we will stick to neutrals throughout.

Egyptian cotton is white, isn’t it?

edited- just looked- it’s not quite white. It’s nice!

Chemenger · 09/02/2025 09:52

In the sunny room we have light blue on three walls and a deep blue on the fireplace wall. In the basement tv room all the walls are white.

gingercat02 · 09/02/2025 09:54

2 walls in a mustardy shade (chimney breast and opposite wall behind the sofa) as that was colour matched to the fabric of the furniture. The rest Egyptian Cotton. It's a great neutral.

Zippidydoodah · 09/02/2025 09:54

A friend of mine has hot pink and I bloody love it.

Pinkmoonshine · 09/02/2025 09:55

Eau de Nile and it’s absolutely lovely in an east facing room

HÆLTHEPAIN · 09/02/2025 09:56

F&B Strong White (colour matched by a local decorator’s store as I wasn’t impressed with the real F&B paint for its price - which we used in another room).

Edited to say, sage green accessories. I love sage green! Previously the walls were that colour but I’m a neutral fan.

Pinkmoonshine · 09/02/2025 09:56

I do believe in working out what light you have - blues and greens for east facing, warm pinks etc for west, careful with a north light and south can have anything

Instahome2 · 09/02/2025 09:59

School house white and green smoke F&B.

What colour are your living room walls?
JC03745 · 09/02/2025 09:59

Currently its white, having just been plastered, but looking for colours.
DH prefers the stark white, I find it a bit cold and clinical.

isitspring · 09/02/2025 10:04

My house is small and open plan and it gets the sun all day (well when it’s sunny ☀️,) the back in the morning and the front in the afternoon so I could probably have any colour. Modern looks best I think as the house is about 25 years old.

Whatever the builders used, which is a soft white. We have curtains with a grey, white and gold subtle pattern and I’d like to get some sofas in a pale gold, but most are too dark or too bright. (There’s nothing wrong with the sofas we have either)

ShiftySquirrel · 09/02/2025 10:05

Living room is Egyptian Cotton with deep red curtains and a old fashioned (but new) Turkish type rug with muted colours pinks and reds in front of the fire.

isitspring · 09/02/2025 10:06

@Instahome2 that’s a really lovely colour.

We have duck egg blue. Our main sofa is donkey grey with duck egg throws, for practicality, but we also have a small sofa in blush pink and in my reading corner I have a duck egg tub chair. Colour accents are blush pink, raspberry and gold. All the colours in my room are picked out of a large Chinese famille rose plate I have on the wall.

Devilsmommy · 09/02/2025 10:10

Mine are pale teal. It's a lovely colour especially if a room gets alot of light
