Me and teen dd have decided that every other weekend we will have some me and her time. She wants to go out for something to eat .

So the choices are .

The local pub 5 min walk away .

Havester which will take about an hour on public transport. Not sure i can be arsed .

Nandos 20 min by bus.

Weather spoons . Im not sure if i want the Saturday night weather spoons vibe .

Local pub?

ViolinsPlayGentlyOn · 08/02/2025 17:02

Local pub

I wouldn’t travel an hour for a Harvester and Nando’s is rank.

theduchessofspork · 08/02/2025 17:03

The local pub if it’s any good

Otherwise Nando’s

It’s a lot less rank than a Harvester

Local experiences may vary!

That's a lovely idea @Youagain2025 😊
I'd let her choose.

LittleRedRidingHoody · 08/02/2025 17:07

Local pub if it's nice! If not, I'd do Nando's.

Sgtmajormummy · 08/02/2025 17:10

Could you change to Sunday lunch? What’s on offer is usually nicer, more family friendly and better value than Saturday evening.
And if she’s a teen she’ll soon want to be going out with friends on Saturday night.

No we are on borrowed time 🤣. If i leave it till Sunday. Ds may be around and he will want to come . Which will cost me more money. Plus it's meant to be me /dd time.

I like havester . Although it's definitely gone down hill compared to the 90s

Dd likes the local pub. And thinking about it there's more choice. Nandos is just the choice of chicken and chicken. The deserts in the pub are a bit crap though. Could just let dd get a tub of Ben and Jerry's on the way home

My teen DD would choose Nandos every time. Yes it's a bit samey but we've been to a few locations never had a bad meal.

Beetrooty · 08/02/2025 17:19

Spoons can be pleasant earlier on in the evening.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 08/02/2025 17:35

Pub. Why would you want to go so far. Our local harvester is shit now.

Coffeeishot · 08/02/2025 17:37

Pub and alternate it with Nandos occasionally Sounds lovely . Harvester is meh isn't it ?

It is getting that way. We used to really enjoy it. But i think that's when it was cheaper and nicer and we used to gp as a large family so tje vone was there. As its just me and dd I think we will just stay local

Is there nothing else up to an hour away?

if you’re willing to travel that far maybe you could go somewhere different every time. The journey might be fun together too, time to chat.

PerambulationFrustration · 08/02/2025 19:34

How about going further afield from time to time? Are there places where you could have a wander and then some food?

Maybe in the summer we could do that when the evenings are lighter.

That's lovely.
Erm. Local pub if it's any good. Not sure I'd consider Nando's or Harvester quality time! Could you go further for more choice? Nando's and Harvester ms aren't usually on their own, are there any other chains near them? Pizza Express? Wagamama? Five Guys?

DDad and I used to do "cultural things" once a month when I was mid teens. We lived in London so there was a lot at our disposal! He died when I was 23 so it's wonderful to have those memories.

We are a bit fussy food wise. And need to have an idea of price really. We ended up in the local pub. Dd wanted the mac and cheese from there. Was not out long to be honest

I consider them quality time. Both my local havesters are not close to anything. Car wise maybe . But not bus .

I'm so sorry about your son. That must be heart breaking . Its lovely that you have them memories 💐
