eurostar - Paris for the day!

I'm throwing caution to the wind and booking myself an EDO to Paris on Eurostar!

Never been before and going solo (unless I can drag a bestie along at the last minute perhaps).

As part of my planning, I'm looking to my wise, well-travelled Mumsnetters for itinerary advice please.

I want to make the most of the day. Quirky would be good, but any of the usual must see places too.

Hit me with your suggestions please.

TIA

How exciting! I think it's important not to try and do everything in a day. I'd start with a nice breakfast in a café to settle in, depending on how early you arrive. Bus 38 to quartier de l'horloge, go up the outside tunnels in the Pompidou Centre (free) for a fab view over the city, maybe take in a bit of modern art if that's your thing. Then a short walk to Saint Paul, mooch around the Marais for a bit. There are loads of cheap/quick places to eat around there. Falafel from any of the places on rue des Rosiers is a good option.

Then from hotel de ville get bus 72. It takes you all along the banks of the Seine past the main sights. Get out across from the Eiffel Tower, cross the river and have a gander, then get bus 30 from Trocadero to Pigalle. If you have any time left my favourite quirky / artsy place is the Halle St Pierre just by Sacré Coeur for weird and wonderful art, but either way you're not a huge distance from the gare du nord.

Et voilà! Hope you have fun :-)

BTW I think you can buy bus tickets ahead of time on the Eurostar.

No new ideas from me, but there's a great Extreme Day Trip Facebook group which has a TONNE of posts about Paris (and other locations if you want to go in future!!) Enjoy :)

Have a great time! Get the app for metro/bus tickets, dead easy to use.
