The dressing gown of doom…

Manflutime · 07/02/2025 11:18

I have a nasty UTI, on antibiotics, feel very crap.
Not spoke to my husband much about it, just getting on with it but feel really rubbish…
Anyway, I heard the groans of doom followed by husband emerging wearing THE dreaded dressing gown… ‘I’m sooooo achey’ he said dramatically, ‘I think I have whatever you have!!!’
I said what, a urinary tract infection? 🤣🤣🤣

Pray for me, thank you
and remember this is light hearted before I get called a horrible wife haha

Oh no! Good luck with both things. Why do they do it? My dh does it a little bit, but not too badly.

BogRollBOGOF · 07/02/2025 11:51

I'm in the Moody Oodie today.
No heating. TTOTOM

I'd be worried if DH was replicating that too!

Devilsmommy · 07/02/2025 11:53

So glad I don't have to deal with this. My DH is the opposite, refuses to acknowledge he's ill like it's some sort of hit on his manliness to be ill🤣 @BogRollBOGOF loving the moody oodie😂

I had similar recently with my husband.
His sister was complaining about feeling ill. A couple of hours later my husband starts oh I don't feel well I think I've caught what sister's got.
I said I didn't realise the menopause was catching.

Oh I didn't realise. he says.

Manflutime · 07/02/2025 12:02

Oh I take it all back. He actually has a really high temperature and shivers! Man flu incoming. Send wine!!!

Mine did this last night, dressing gown of doom on complete with theatrically filling his favourite whiskey glass with lemonade inviting us all to ask why he was too ill to drink whiskey (I think he thought it was Friday not Thursday night so that went a bit wrong!). However dd2 had a very off day (PDA), Dd1 had no sympathy and I was in severe pain so when no questions or sympathy were forthcoming he woke up "much better" this morning.

TheChosenTwo · 07/02/2025 13:30

Neither of us have dressing gowns but when dh puts on his stripey jumper i know he’s feeling sorry for himself!
Fortunately he’s not a malingerer and doesn’t get ill often so I don’t see much of it 😂
@Manflutime hope he’s not taken down for too long.

Springflowersmakeforbetterhours · 07/02/2025 13:42

Dd is currently having an awful period.. Her bf listed off a range of HIS symptoms.. Whilst looking through an online medical article...
He was worried he had an ovarian cyst and was dd sure he didn't have one....
Christ on a bike....
He is 20 BTW...

Manflutime · 07/02/2025 13:42

I find it incredible. When I’m home with the 2 children but very unwell I’m just expected to crack on because he can take NO!!! Time off work but when he was one ounce of a sniffle he is off work, moping on the sofa refusing to take anything for it 😩. I will update this thread next week when I’ve caught it and he’s in work!!!

A few weeks ago I was poorly. I caught myself moping around in the living room groaning 'I feel sooooooo poooorly,' and sniffing exaggeratedly.

I live alone. The dog had zero sympathy.

I had this. i don't have an unsympathetic dog but I do have a fake plant that couldn't give less of a pastic shit, the bastard.

I pray for all men in a DGOD. Now I've seen that acronym I wonder how often they shuffle into a room wearing it and their partner's first muttering is "Dear GOD....." with an eyeroll/sigh etc.

Anyway, OP I hope he survives and you don't cruelly tell him actually violent and uncaring things like "I'll get you more tissues in a minute" and "I think you can reach the remote control on the coffee table."

What's TTOTOM?

Strange. My cat has no sympathy either, and just fakes starvation 🐈

I was wondering that too. I was thinking they meant That Time Of The Month, but accidentally put an extra letter in.

LazyArsedMagician · 07/02/2025 16:09

My husband is NEVER ill. The one time, in the 20+ years we've been together, I was unsympathetic and he collapsed and was blue-lighted to hospital with swine flu Blush

(That just tells you how long ago it was that they sent an ambulance, it was snowing and I was home with twin toddlers).

If I have a headache or period pains he always remembers and asks me how I'm feeling before offering cups of tea and whatever else I want. I'm a shameful wife Grin

I did. Spelling was suffering until the ibuprofen kicked in.

I've even taken the Moody Oodie off... for now... Grin

I was right, i am now really unwell, temp, pus on tonsils, body aches, nausea etc and he’s gone to work. ‘No time’ to take off work now he is better and I’m unwell. I also have 2 poorly children at home. I’m so so so done
