Cabin Pressure and other radio comedy shows.

I’ve just started listening to Cabin Pressure and so far I don’t understand the appeal. Perhaps it just isn’t for me but I don’t find it very funny and the constant laughter from the studio audience is annoying.

Are there any other radio comedy shows that people would recommend or should I stick with it?

Stick with it! I didn’t love the first few episodes the first time round and wasn’t sure I liked it, but once you get further in you’ll realise how amazing it is.

I didn't really get into Cabin Pressure until Ipswich. Eventually I loved it all and bought the CDs.

But if the humour isn't really for you then I don't know what else to recommend. Not helpful, sorry! Can you explore comedy programmes on BBC Sounds?

If you don’t love cabin pressure- and agree with others that you need to give it a few episodes as the characters get more nuanced and interesting, then I don’t know what to suggest! It’s the best!

Thanks all. I know that it isn’t really fair to judge a show on its pilot episode(No pun intended) as it often has some teething troubles so I’ll persist and give it a few more episodes.

Yes Minister started on radio before it was on TV
I used to like Just A Minute but that was when Kenneth Williams was on it when mammoths roamed Shepherd's Bush.
The Goon Show if you have the Monty Python sort of humour
The Likely Lads
The News Quiz

Paul Temple is drama rather than comedy but you might enjoy it.

Which ones have you listened to so far? I would recommend:

Ipswich
Limerick
Ottery St Mary
Qikiqtarjuaq
St Petersburg
Uskerty
Vaduz

If you still don't like it after some of those, give up and try a different series.

Comedy is very personal, you don't need to stick with something if you're not enjoying it

I don't find many of the comedies funny so can't recommend anything

I like No Committments.
