Dc at University and bedrooms

ds is at Uni, in his 3rd year. Planning to do his Master next year.
His bedroom is empty most if the time now. He is usually back a couple of weeks 3x a year and that’s about it.

Im wondering if I can start using that bedroom for something else.
I dint want ds to feel like I’m kicking him out. And I’m aware that after his master, he might end up moving back home (even though I know he’d hate it and will do his best to avoid that).

Whats your experience on that?

I think as long as it can still be used as a bedroom that's fine. What we're you planning on doing with it?

We didn't fully repurpose the older kids bedrooms until they had properly moved out. But they knew that we used them for guests and storage space while they were at Uni.
I wouldn't strip a room of it's familiarity but I reckon it's fine to use the space
