Edgbaston/Birmingham residents please help

Hi, I'm hoping for local knowledge to help me. I'm going to Edgbaston Community Centre for an event and unsure whether to drive or go by train. I'm having some problems working out how to get from Birmingham New St. Please can anyone local help me with directions/ train/nus/taxi advice.

There are regular buses down the Bristol Road and then it's a very short walk - think it's 61.62 63 but nx bus website should give info. Alternatively as it's barely a mile just get a cab. It's also walkable, but not the nicest walk - along the busy A38.
