Can you have too many cushions?

We have large 4 seater and three seater sofas with 12 cushions between them.

Kids love them, husband thinks there's too many.

Yes.

RickiRaccoon · 03/02/2025 17:43

That sounds like a lot but it depends if they're being used and how much time is spent moving and rearranging them.

If you and the kids like them, your DH might just have to tolerate them (as long as you're not asking him to tidy them).

HundredMilesAnHour · 03/02/2025 17:46

I currently have 8 cushions on my 3 seater sofa so may not be the right person to give a balanced opinion. 😜

I can’t stand cushions on beds though, argh!

Any cushions is too many for me!

Doggymummar · 03/02/2025 17:51

We have one

KevinAndTracy · 03/02/2025 17:52

Absolutely yes - cushions on beds is my pet hate

12 on a sofa definitely sounds excessive

ErrolTheDragon · 03/02/2025 17:52

It depends on the size of sofas and occupants. Your DH may not need cushions to be comfortable, but smaller people often need them.

coldcallerbaiter · 03/02/2025 17:54

Cushions are uncomfortable and take up room. Rather have a comfy sofa.

Bananaram · 03/02/2025 19:28

Yes, we have 7 cushions between 2 settees and an armchair and they drive me mad because they get chucked in the floor whenever someone wants to sit down and it looks so untidy. Bought them because it looks cosy when they are nicely put in place but that's not often to be honest 😐

Exactly. Like cushions on the bed. You chuck them on the floor when you go to bed. So pointless.

Joolsin · 04/02/2025 22:44

On beds, yes. On sofas - nevaaaaarrrr!

HeddaGarbled · 04/02/2025 22:45

Answer honestly: how many of the 12 are on the floor during a normal evening?

TheChosenTwo · 04/02/2025 22:48

I think it’s too many. We have a large 3 and 4 seater too and have 3 cushions on each, even that’s too many and when we use the room they are thrown to the other sofa or to the other end or pushed onto the floor.
I don’t have cushions on the bed, they would only be on the floor!

Screamingabdabz · 04/02/2025 22:48

Most men I’ve ever met hate cushions! 😂

ThePoshUns · 04/02/2025 22:58

I find cushions annoying and uncomfortable.

ExtraDisorganised · 04/02/2025 23:27

Yes. We have a three and a two seated sofa, each has two cushions, one at each end and that's enough. One in our single armchairs. Zero on the beds, they are a pet hate of mine in hotels and holiday cottages.

EconomyClassRockstar · 04/02/2025 23:33

You have to invest in your cushion insides to make them work so that they're comfortable but, even then, I have a 3 cushion max per sofa rule. Sofas are all 92" long and no sectionals.

I also have a couple of cushions on my bed, along with a cashmere blanket because it makes it comfortable to lie on if you want to read a book or watch tv during the day and disturbs the actual bed less. Not that I ever DO read a book or watch tv in my room but if I ever did, I'm good to go!
