Hooded Bath Towels for adults

SplendidPendips · 02/02/2025 21:45

I've always bought my kids bath towels from a company called Hooded Owls. Great bath towels with a hood. My son has outgrown the largest size they do now but wants a bigger version. Anyone know where to buy hooded bath towels for adults (he's a young teen, but almost 6ft tall)? I can only find poncho styles, whereas he wants a proper towel style to wrap around his shoulders/body with a hood.

Would a hooded bathrobe not do?

SplendidPendips · 02/02/2025 22:22

To me they are things to put on after you are dry, rather than something to dry yourself with. Is that not right??!

Why do you think they are made out of towelling if not to dry you?

Whats the difference between a bathrobe (not dressing gown) and a towel? Both are made from the same material.

To keep you warm. Why would it have arms if it was just to dry yourself with? You can't stay in a wet robe....

When you shower or bathe do your arms not get wet? That is the reason the robes have arms.

Bathrobes are not used to keep you warm once dressed. You need a dressing gown/ housecoat for that.

Why is this eww?

Redtrainyellowcarriage · 03/02/2025 04:33

If you can't find one could you make one? A bath towel/sheet then use a hand towel to make the hood? I'm sure the Internet must have instructions how ( just scale up cla child's version) the Amazon one is over £40! ( And drags on the floor 🤢)

Satisfactionguaranteed · 03/02/2025 05:31

You can get towelling ponchos for adults with hoods. I use mine at the swimming, put it on while I'm drying and dressing toddler, then I can get dressed.

notmyrealname101 · 03/02/2025 05:42

White company and John Lewis, do them. Have you tried Vinted? I bet there's loads of brand new ones on there.

WalterHWhite · 03/02/2025 05:56

I got one from The Towel Shop recently. Seems good

Doingmybest12 · 03/02/2025 06:37

I saw one in The Range yesterday with exercise stuff I think. Otherwise surfing outlets have them..

I change my towels every 2 - 3 days. That's the difference.

My dressing gown keeps me warm. It's thick cotton towelling. I'd never even consider drying myself with it. All my life I've had cotton bathrobe / dressing gowns. What's wrong with towels?

FlutteryButterfly · 04/02/2025 20:16

A towelling bathrobe and a dressing gown are two separate things. Bathrobe to dry and dressing gown to keep warm and slum in. Of course a dry bathrobe can also be used for.the latter. It's definitely not ewwww!

Ok, so you’re a bit manky. What does that have to do with people with decent hygiene habits that use bathrobes instead of towels?

GettingOlderandBetter · 04/02/2025 22:14

Just google surf robes or hooded towels the surf and paddle boarding shops sell loads of them like Quiksilver or RipCurl and they’re ideal for chucking on after a shower.

Normallynumb · 04/02/2025 22:19

Further to my post above I have 3 towelling robes which I rotate every few days( not expensive ones) wear until dry then hang up and either clothes or Pyjamas
Not ewww at all

HPandthelastwish · 04/02/2025 22:22

@SplendidPendips you've been using bathrobes wrong. Towelling bathrobe with hood when wet, fleecy dressing gown when dry and pootling round the house unless you've moved on to Bodies

HPandthelastwish · 04/02/2025 22:24

@Parratha so? You can have more than one bathrobe, and wash it every few days, they are similar in bulk to a bath sheet.
