Why did he buy euros? Bit daft.

BashfulClam · 02/02/2025 12:54

You can usually but the exchange rate is awful.

Aaron95 · 02/02/2025 12:59

Depends where you are going. In Sofia most places will take them but the exchange rate will be dire. Outside of the cities you need Lev.

No, he'll need Bulgarian levs.

He'll surely be travelling somewhere in the Eurozone again in future so I'd probably put the euros away for then and just buy some levs now.

Well, it'll give them the opportunity to shave a little extra off by incurring an unnecessarily high exchange rate. I'm not saying that's definitely what they're up to, but that's what I'd be watching for, because he's clueless enough to ask so what are the chances he can accurately calculate what the bill should be in euros based on the posted rate in lev?
