Second hand electric car advice

My current car is a 2014 Ford Focus and I'd like something similar but maybe a bit smaller, Corsa-sized is OK, electric and perhaps around 5 years old or less. I prefer automatics and was finding half the cars in the search are now electric so it looks like the right time for me to make the switch.

I only have a budget of around £10K for the car and that's pushing it - Am I kidding myself? I've factored in getting a charging point separately.

Most of the second hand cars I've found online have been Nissan Leafs - which look OK. I really don't know.. I just know I don't want to buy a Tesla.
Does anyone have any wisdom to share about which cars are good? Also if you have anything to share about owning an electric car - how different is it - what do I need to know?
Thanks!

I'm on my second Leaf and I love them! The all round parking cameras particularly are worth their weight in gold.

I had a 2018 one for a few years, with a range of 110-140 miles depending on weather. I loved the car, but I regularly do a 120 mile journey so it was just too close to the wire for me. Charging when out and about is fine, but it takes time and I'd rather avoid it on regular journeys.

I replaced it with a 2021 Leaf plus which has a 180-200 mile range and it's great. It was probably about 13k though.

PP are right that there are fewer Chademo chargers than the other type, but conversely that means they are more likely to be available! The infrastructure has got way better over the 4 years I have been an EV owner and is improving all the time.
