Tea or Sunday lunch near m40/oxford or Aylesbury area

Any recommendations for an afternoon tea or Sunday lunch near the m40 nearish Oxford (want to avoid Oxford centre, nearish the motorway if possible)

Ideally somewhere that won’t be too noisy, a bit special, but for a booking in a few weeks so nowhere that will be booked up too far in advance.

thanks!

The Russell Arms @ Butlers Cross for Sunday Lunch
The Woodstock Arms @ Woodstock for Sunday lunch

Depends which side of Oxford you want to stop

Blenheim Palace for afternoon tea. Or Waddesdon Manor.
The Bow or the Five Arrows in Waddesdon for Sunday lunch. Actually the best Sunday lunch I’ve ever had at the Boobytrap Brewery in Westcott but not the plushest surroundings - is rustic. But the food is amazing.

The Akeman in Kingswood or Canaletto (lovely Italian) are good choices not far from M40. The five arrows is also nice. Hartwell House also serves afternoon tea in nice grounds

If you want somewhere special come off at junction 10 and go here, it’s exceptional. They do a la carte, not just a tasting menu. It’s a pub with a Michelin star but very friendly and unpretentious
