Dh suddenly smells bad - what could cause this?

Over the last couple of weeks dh has started stinking of BO. He never did before. He’s very clean, so it’s not that, in fact his pits stink a bit even straight after a shower.

No change to food, toiletries, routines etc. He doesn’t take any supplements beyond a dose of vit c if he has a cold. He’s healthy, mid 50s and not over weight.

And it’s not just me - he can smell it himself.

He made a doctors appointment but it got pushed back two weeks because of the storm.

Any one experienced this?

And any tips for the laundry would be appreciated too. I’ve had to re wash shirts when I went to iron then.

Our clothing began to smell and it was due to the Eco wash. It wasn't using enough water and the clothes weren't actually being laundered. We changed to a Cotton or Mixed wash and that's improved it no end.

We also use Ariel Bio Powder, not liquid as the liquid can build up a greasy residue in your clothing, which will smell. Don't use fabric conditioner either as that does the same.

Lastly, Dettol Laundry Cleanser in the conditioner drawer. It's an antibacterial liquid.

Wash stuff on at least 40C unless it's delicate. Towels and bedding at 60C or higher. Do a 90C maintenance wash on your machine. Wash and bleach all the dispenser drawers out and clean the seal with antibacterial spray.

Get him some proper soap, no shower gel, as it doesn't kill the bacteria.

Lots of potential causes for this on top of what you e suggested. Stress, diabetes, vitamin deficiencies, kidney failure. If he's otherwise well and has no other symptoms then I'd suggest increasing fluid intake and a multivitamin

If gets unwell and sees the GP for anything g else, mention this as an additional symptom
