What do you buy a glamorous colleague as a retirement gift …?

I need to buy a retirement gift for a very glamorous colleague who is leaving work … I have no idea what to get her! She is glamorous and very cool and has expensive tastes. She has been really kind to me but has been pushed to leave slightly before her time so there’s an awkward feeling (nothing to do with me!)

She is not into candles or skincare. The ideal thing would be a really beautiful objet d’art but I have no idea where to look …

She’s not going to have any free time as she still needs to do some freelance work. I don’t know any of her other colleagues so can’t do a joint gift.

any ideas? I’d like to spend up to £50

Does she love flowers - a nice vase, maybe? LSA glass is always lovely.

What about alcohol if she drinks? A nice gin or non alcoholic version?
Theatre voucher or afternoon tea for you both?

John Lewis voucher with a lovely message.

Or nice olive oil & balsamic vinegar?

I would get a Caithness paperweight. It can sit on a shelf or a desk and some of them are really beautiful. Where are you located, is there something location specific that you could get ?

These are great ideas, thank you! Maybe I will buy her some expensive booze … but I don’t drink much so always feel a bit awkward about that.

Tickets for something, or a spa treatment.

I'm glamorous and retired 😉 and would always rather go somewhere than have something....lunch, exhibition?

Something unnecessary but useful and attractive. Eg this https://shop.nationalgallery.org.uk/canaletto-upper-reaches-umbrella-1052822.html (there are other designs).
I initially thought scarf, but they’re very personal taste.
A thing to do together is really nice idea.

Definitely a voucher and maybe a small bunch of flowers. You don[’t say where you live but theatre vouchers or membership of a museum or the NT . A friend was given a spa voucher which we enjoyed. Maybe a voucher for afternoon tea for two?

TheDeadAndDying · 26/01/2025 10:03

Do you know which salon she uses for hair/nails etc? I would get her a voucher to use there.

maslinpan · 26/01/2025 10:06

Voucher for an art shop so she can pick a print/ ceramic she likes
