Can anyone recommend me a fine red wine?

It's for a friend's milestone birthday. I don't like / drink red wine so have no clue where to start.

I do have a £50 voucher for https://www.finewinedirect.co.uk/ so was hoping to purchase from here if anyone has any recommendations from their existing stock.

It depends on what their tastes are but I've had this and it would buy again.

We love a Cabernet Sauvignon or a Malbec so would get one of those

Waxed Bat Reserve is lovely

Definitely this, or a Gigondas. Do you have a specialist wine shop anywhere near you? Might be best to go somewhere like there.

They have a Brunello di Montalcino for £50, I would consider that.

That site has lots of good Barolos. I'd go for one of those.
