I’m hoping the combined wisdom of all you mums can help me find a birthday gift for my grandson who’s going to be 2. He has an older brother and I’ve never known children with so many toys. Any ideas very gratefully received. Thank you.
I have asked mummy and my son by the way and the only suggestion was some more Lego train track or Brio but I was hoping for something a bit more exciting.

Can you get something a bit extra for the Brio?
Like a bridge, a fancy tunnel or station to add to their set.

A day out with granny on a train/steam train etc.

Take him to a farm or similar and a teddy as something to unwrap.

Some books? Could be pop up ones, ones about trains -there is so much choice and so many wonderful picture books for that age.You can then have the time to read with him

You can get a brio station (might be hape actually - at any rate it's for wooden train track) where you can record your own station announcement. That might be a bit different? DS2 has just turned 2 and the big hits with him are a doll and buggy. DS1 was the opposite and had no interest in imaginative play, and all he wanted was things to do with trains.

Magna-tiles are great if they don't have them too.

Balance bike? Dc had this one https://earlyrider.com/products/classic-balance-bike?srsltid=AfmBOoqmPgtG33uGGS-flCqIC75YlJQnRn20FJIdlSgGKVYn6EknuYhh (many years ago, was significantly cheaper then but lasted really well).

His older brother’s first balance bike is waiting for his little legs to grow a tad.

2nd birthday I definitely think DS1 liked his brio tunnel, bridge and accessories. DS2 got a set of golf clubs lol. He was obsessed with sports at that age… so any ball themed toy was a hit. Whereas little grandson loved animals and got a Noah’s ark of wooden animals for his 2nd birthday.
What does your grandson like?

@fourelementary , he really enjoys brandishing a toy sword and careering towards you with a somewhat menacing look on his face and pretending to stab you. 😂 We bought his older brother a Roman soldier’s costume and he sometimes wears the helmet and I did look for a tiny one for him but couldn’t find one.

Magnetic tiles?

Or does he like superheroes? One of the best presents my DD has ever received was a superhero cloak personalised with her name. Not sure where it came from as was a present, but you could probably get on Not on the Highstreet or Etsy.

Anything with bubbles.
