Just that really

he has a suspected stomach abscess,

he saw the doctor yesterday who did bloods and sent him for a scan, she has just called and said his bloods are abnormal and he needs to go for tests and stay overnight.

im thinking pjs dressing gown change of clothes phone charger will he need money ?

hes very scared, he’s 66 and never stayed in hospital, I must admit I’m worried, I did the worst thing possible and googled it. I’m keeping that to myself he won’t google I hope

Head phones if he has, books or tablet to keep him occupied. Snacks if he can eat. Slippers and toiletries.

Hope everything goes ok.

Purplerain1144 · 24/01/2025 09:15

Something to read, phone charger, toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant, body wash, maybe some baby wipes? Snacks, a water bottle. Hope he's okay

MiddleAgedDread · 24/01/2025 09:16

Pjs
dressing gown
slippers
book
headphones / tablet if he uses them
mobile phone
phone charger
toothbrush and toothpaste
deodorant
shower gel
comb / hairbrush
glasses
snacks
any medication he takes
ear plugs and a travel eye mask if you've got them
towel? I think even the NHS gave me one but no harm in putting one in the bag
I've never used money in hospital but never been in long enough that I could walk down to the shop or cafe.

and take snacks, water and a book for yourself too if you're going to stay with him for a while!

treacledan71 · 24/01/2025 09:17

Sorry to hear this. Yes would take bit of money and change. Also bank card . I think you need that if want to purchase the TV channels. Also some squash and perhaps some boiled sweets.

mindutopia · 24/01/2025 09:17

Ear plugs, just the foam sort from the pharmacy should be fine. A battery pack for phone charging is easier than plugging into the wall. I was in for 4 days recently. Crocs or sandals, warm socks, comfortable clothes (doesn’t have to be pj’s, jogger bottoms and a jumper, whatever he is comfortable in).

Meecrowahvey · 24/01/2025 09:18

An eye mask

RafaistheKingofClay · 24/01/2025 09:20

Flannel, wet wipes, medication in its original packaging.
Hand cream and lip balm if you think he’ll use it.
audio books and headphones

That’s a brilliant list thanks

If you send a towel, make sure it’s not white

Floranan · 24/01/2025 10:05

Well we’re off, thank you everyone for the lists my mind just went blank
