Will include just leave a note if urgent . I really hate people knocking on my door. It's loud and disturbing. The loud knocks give me anxiety.

Get a low volume doorbell? A note is hardly practical for urgent things.

Of course you are unreasonable. Why not put a note saying ‘knock softly?’ Confused

Yourfootisinmysirachamayo · 22/01/2025 18:12

How many people are knocking on your door everyday, that makes it so disturbing?

newyearsresolurion · 22/01/2025 18:15

@Yourfootisinmysirachamayo twice today I was napping with my toddler and got woken up to this loud knock !!! By the time I got round to check who was there they were gone!! It happened again as I was changing my toddler. Am sick of it

At home? At work? Do you get that many people knock daily?

newyearsresolurion · 22/01/2025 18:16

At home

Some of the delivery drivers around here do seem to knock loudly and aggressively. As well as ringing the doorbell.

It makes me jumpy and stressed.

I can see why it would bother you.

When Dts were small I had a note up saying baby twins sleeping knock at your perill. Did the job.

As an adult with no reason to not want the knock just get a ring doorbell or similar and put it on low.

HobnobsChoice · 22/01/2025 18:18

My mum used to work nights as a nurse and would put a sign up when she was sleeping during the day. It said something like "Do not knock/ring night worker sleeping". It was pretty effective, even with kids coming to call for me and my sister. It stopped the postie asking us to take parcels for other people or JWs trying us.

You could put up a sign if you want.

Could you get a blink or ring doorbell? If people see that they'll use it. You can switch your phone off and won't hear it at times it's inconvenient.

We get the clattering of the letterbox twice here instead of knocking. That all stopped when I got my blink doorbell.

Had ring doorbell just moved house. It makes sense will reconnect the old one . Thanks for replies. My heart is still beating fast from the last knock. So pissed off.

Are you a very anxious person OP? Because it’s really not normal to be so anxious about a simple knock on the door that your heart is beating fast 20 minutes later.
