Syrups/coffee/drink set up at home

I don’t drink coffee but I like the idea of buying the different flavoured syrups that I see people use in their home barista set up.

The syrups are like the add-ons you can order at Costa or Starbucks eg white chocolate, caramel, peppermint, hazelnut, strawberry etc. Instead of coffee I’d use them for drinks like hot chocolate, smoothies and cocktails. Possibly baking too.

However it seems like the syrups only last 3 months - is this true? Seems really expensive then as I can’t imagine my household would get through a bottle of caramel syrup in 3 months! Can any recommend syrup brands that last longer? Or can you just keep using them past their use by date without much issue?

In tk maxx they’re about £5 per bottle. I’ve had mine longer than 3 months and they are fine!

You can buy little sets, the bottles are small.

I've got a bottle in my cupboard, more than one actually that I use semi-regularly that I've had for at least 2 years... taste fine, don't make us sick or anything. I will go home and check what it says but I'm pretty sure it's fine.

I just keep using them but M&S do small bottles if you don’t want the huge ones

You can buy a set of small ones

You can buy small bottles of Monin syrup in Sainsbury.

Anything sugary lasts for years, it's a preservative. They want you to throw it away and buy some more, don't fall for it.
