Boring question about travel adapters for the US

I understand that they use the 2 pin amd 3 pin plug, but am I right in thinking it's better to buy an adapt with 2 pins, as you may not always get a 3 hole socket? I'll only need it to charge my phone and smart watch.

Anyway, I've looked in Argos and Boots and they seem to only have the 3 pin type. I'm a bit wary about getting something like this from Amazon as reviews point out casing is not sturdy. Where else might do the two pin type?

Thanks.

Boots or W H Smith usually have them.

North America only use two pin plugs. There are no three pin plugs sockets You need to get an adapter that has two pins to fit into the socket, but will fit a three pin plug.

Amazon are okay, I've bought adapters from them.

If you are worried ask in the shop which is the best one for travel.

Incorrect. They do have three pin versions also.
OP to answer your question you only need to plan for the 2 pin. That will meet all your needs. However any adapter will likely cater for the 3 pin just in case and any 3 pin adapter like the ones you’ve found will accept 2 pins also.

I've always bought adapters from Amazon, travel and use them a lot with no issues. Supermarkets also do them though if you want to buy from a physical shop.

Erm, all the research I've done so far say that they do, although the third pin is an optional grounding pin. I guess the two pin one is more common though.

I shall have a look over the weekend in actual shoos, but I'm surprised to find that the type B, like the one in the link below, seems to be more available in the UK to buy.
