Can I return this? Late Christmas present, no receipt (F&F)

Due to Christmas bugs we missed out on meeting some relatives over the Christmas break, but caught up today. I was given my present - a F&F jumper that on the label should have fitted but is actually really big. There was no gift receipt (I did ask before I tried it on, my relative said she didn't think she had it) but it does still have the tag on. Can I return it? F&F website says it's ok for gifts bought before 1st October and until 31st January so it's within the time but I don't actually know when it was bought and there's no mention of needing a receipt. I don't have a Tesco that local but if I can get a refund or gift card I'll go out of my way. Worth a try? I'll charity shop it if not, it's not a large one, just wondering.

Yes, it can be done. I once returned an item to Asda in the January that I'd bought before Christmas, with no receipt. I asked for a gift card as I was happy with that, Asda were happy to oblige.

Fab, thanks @Gummibärchen

I'd ring Tesco to check, don't make a special trip based on what Asda might do

Just to update, I did go to Tesco and all was well. They checked the current price as it had gone into the sale and I could exchange the jumper for that price for anything in the clothes department. TBF I wasn't exactly spoilt for choice as it was largely end of sale items. But I did get myself a super-soft loungewear hoody which I've basically lived in since, so I am happy.
