Why can’t I tolerate wearing tights anymore ??!!

For the past 6 weeks I haven’t been able to wear tights? I put them on and immediately feel unwell and previously I didn’t even notice anything???

I haven’t put on any weight at all. So it’s not that. No constipation. But it’s like the pressure of them on my abdomen is wrong? It makes me feel incredibly uncomfortable and agitated ? It’s making me really confused ! Has anyone experienced anything similar ? Is it stupid to go to the gp to check my abdomen ?

Eurgh I feel the same. I always put it down to gaining weight but no idea if I have or not as don’t weigh myself. The anxiety though!! Ugh can’t stand the sensation of tights at the mo.

My first thought was that I’d maybe put on weight but I haven’t so I’m really confused !

A bit of bloating will make them too uncomfortable if they were already borderline being the correct size.

Get a larger size and you'll feel much better.

I won't wear them and I've always been slim. Leggings are different as you can anchor them in the right position and your feet are still free.
Tights are like being imprisoned (she says dramatically)

I did that but the next size up are just too big. The ones I have that are the correct size aren’t too small they fit fine it’s as if the compressions of them at the waistband is just too noticeable and it makes me feel really strange ! My weight and measurements are the same as always it’s just the actual feel of them somehow it’s making me feel unwell . The best way to describe it i think is almost like it’s pushing on something? Or cutting of my circulation a bit it makes me feel agitated and a bit sick and my whole abdomen just feels more ‘rigid’? As soon as I take them off it’s instant relief

I'm not trying to be a doom sayer but bowel cancer can cause this sort of uncomfortable feeling

I have been considering the past few days making a gp appt just so they can check my stomach . I don’t have any worrying symptoms so hopefully not anything bad but something is definitely different

Just an update in case anyone ever has a similar problem - I paid for a private scan as I just wasn’t feeling right. I have a large fibroid and a large ovarian cyst so that’s obviously why I felt uncomfortable in tights!

I'm glad you got a check up. Hope you get well soon xxx

JamMonster · 25/01/2025 23:06

Thanks for updating, definitely a useful cautionary tale! Hope you feel better soon!

AtomicRuby · 25/01/2025 23:12

@tightstootight I hope they were able to sort out the cyst and the fibroid. It just goes to show sometimes it's best to notice your body and listen to your instincts.

I have to take the report to my gp for a gynae referral. The fibroid is in the posterior uterus muscle rather than the cavity so not sure what they’ll do and the ovary cyst will need checking as that worried me a bit. I just knew my abdomen felt different I was starting to think was i going mad with my aversion to tights !

I practically can't seem to fit into any tights anymore. I know I've put on weight, but really?
Are they making them smaller? I bought some Sainsbury's TU xxl. Extra extra large! Yes really. Oh they'll be massive I thought: they wouldn't stretch, pull or anything as I took them out the packet. I practically did Simone biles gymnastics to get them on. They were tight going over my thighs, I thought they were going to cut off my blood supply. Not happy.

Sorry missed update. Sorry to hear that op.
