Can you smell an infection like a cold/virus

Last few days I've got a headache everyday, I had some random stabbing pains deep inside my ear canal so thought maybe I'm coming down with something, I also keep getting that rushing feeling of chills when I move around, but not to the point I'm dithering. I also don't feel ill.

Anyway, I can smell this horrible sour sort of smell, like a musty stale old smell, I can't explain it it just smells soury and not nice. Dh seems to think it could be a virus I have and I can smell it, is that even possible ?!
Also dh this morning has got white spots on his tonsils so looks like there is a virus in the house !

I could always smell when the dc's were I'll when they were younger, they had a kind of sickly smell on their breath. You often get a nasty taste in your mouth too when you're ill so makes sense you would smell it too as the olfactory system is linked.

Sinus infection maybe? If I get a bad one, I can sort of "smell" the inside of my head, for want of a better way of putting it...

Yes, I'm a nanny and can always smell when the kids are coming down with something. I don't notice it as much with adults, but then I don't spend as much time with adults sitting on my knee!

I've noticed i smell it more when I've come in from the cold, which is bizarre. Also it's not my house as I smelt it in dhs van too lol
