Name changed.
Babysitting my grandson this evening (6pm-7pm).
House phone rings which is unusual in itself.
A very irate voice comes on and asks
where Toby is.
He's asleep I reply.
But he should have been here at 5.30pm.
Are you sure, me thinking has no one told me I should have
taken him somewhere.
Irate voice says Toby has let the cadets down.
My reply are you sure as he is only 4 months old.

It turns out the phone number he should have dialled had
only 1 diget different. The real Toby lives in the next town.

A funny coincedence.

That funny.

Reminded me of my DS when he was about 5 getting an invitation to test drive a car.

AConcernedCitizen · 18/01/2025 01:27

Temptation to turn up with him in a little army hat...

It isn't just children it happens to - I received a letter from Saga urging me to consider joining them "now that you've reached that age where you've worked hard all of your life, you've earned your long-awaited retirement and you're now wanting to relax, settle down and take things more slowly in life" shortly after my 18th birthday!

Still, that was many years ago and that is starting to sound a lot more appealing now... Grin

What a strange coincidence!

I was once invited to play for a Vienna orchestra. I thought 'hang on a second, let me whip out my recorder...'
