Is anyone awake at this ungodly hour?
i posted last night that I was awake with poorly DD, she’s currently sleeping but I’m now struggling to drift back off after needing to give her calpol and ibruprofen again.
nothing serious, a nasty viral infection drs said! There is 7 people off in her class with it her teacher said.

wondering whether it’s coffee time.

Loads of children off at my school, fluey illness mostly. Hope your DD feels better soon. Maybe put your phone down for a bit and see if you can even just rest for a while; it's a long day when it starts this early! I'm normally awake around now - sleeping used to be my Olympic sport and since the menopause finished, if I sleep for 5 hours in a stretch I feel very lucky.

Gummibärchen · 17/01/2025 04:24

it's coffee time no question, OP I'm awake here with a redbush tea. Hope your DD feels a bit better tomorrow

Sneakybusiness · 17/01/2025 04:38

I’m awake. Stupid brain. Going through a possible redundancy at the moment so my sleep is disturbed. I think I will get up, I went to bed early so have had about 6 hours sleep and it will take so long for my to get back to sleep it will be time to get up again!

hope your dd is better soon

Worried about my very elderly parent in hospital. It is the begining of the end really, so am full of anticipatory grief, which I know is daft, but can't help it!

Ahhh gosh I love sleep too! Do you get up and start your day or do you see if you can drift back off? X

Oh no your poor DD it's so awful when they are ill and if she's got this flu/virus etc that is going around then that's just horrible, I hope she feels better soon. How old is she? Does her favourite programme on telly help during the day? Going to try and sleep again here, I've got one child in my bed and some lovely snuggles with a baby (my baby not just a baby 🤣)

Guavafish1 · 17/01/2025 04:53

TheStigarette · 17/01/2025 04:54

yes so today she has been tucked up in my bed drinking plenty of fluids, eating ice lollies/ice cream and watching a mix of paw patrol and funny cat videos! She turned 5 yesterday and was poorly on her birthday which we will make up for.
haha your ‘my baby not just a baby’ comment actually made me laugh out loud x

Oh her 5th birthday yesterday that's just unfair poor girl! Your approach to looking after a poorly baby sounds like mine, you'll have to make it up to her for her birthday when she's better - good news is that children bounce back, isn't it strange they just suddenly are better within 5mins whereas I take weeks to be back to normal!
This baby is asleep now 🤣 I'll try and sleep too and hope you get some rest OP x

Thank you, that's so kind of you.
However, my bezzie had noticed I was online just rang and gave me a phone-based hug!
I am now on vats of coffee and girding loins for visit later.
Big hugs to all of you here - the early hours are soul-draining (if you aren't 19 and partying for your country!)

Hysterectomynext · 17/01/2025 05:34

I had a big surgery and I’m more or less bed bound. Never properly sleep and never properly awake. I did read bedtime story to my child last night though which is the first time since hospital.

i hope all of you have a good day ahead

Rictasmorticia · 17/01/2025 05:39

Good morning all who cannot sleep.Do You get up or is any one like me and Propped up in bed on Mumsnet. Just biding time till DHgets up.

Sneakybusiness · 17/01/2025 07:01

@Rictasmorticia if I think I can get back to sleep (I almost never can!) then I read mumsnet for a bit, otherwise I get up because I hate being in bed trying to sleep but failing. The silver lining of an early morning is that I am very productive in those few silent hours.
