Tech/gaming people this way. Need advice

I want to get a handheld controller to play some games on my gaming laptop. I’ve added this black one to my Amazon basket and it specially says it’s good with steam (which I use). But I stupidly tried this switch controller to see if it worked (it’s a USB so just plugged straight into the laptop) but now I’m cautious to spend £35 on a controller that might not work. Does it work?

The title specifically says PC, so I don't see why it wouldn't work. You could return it if it doesn't?

I guess. It’s just a faff to return things. I hate having to cos it means I gotta get the bus into town
