Stock with frozen chicken?

I have a chicken carcass in the freezer to make stock with. Can I chuck it in the pot with the other ingredients still frozen? I'll be cooking it in the slow oven for a couple of hours at least.....

Yes. Why on Earth not? It’s defrosting then coming to a boil.

Yeah I've done this, doesn't do any harm at all and saves time too!

Thank you! I have no idea why I even questioned it-it's just that I've never done it before and Mumsnet has made me question my own standards sometimes! But it's in the slow oven now.

I always use frozen bones. Keep a bag in the freezer and add to it every time we have bone in chicken (or pork - pork bones also make lovely stock, lamb not so much). Nigella does this and refers to it as “her own private Golgotha” which is a bit dark but memorable…

I do that all the time. Usually end up with a couple in the freezer that I throw in the pot with loads of veg and make a soupy stew thing, always goes down well here.
