My DS was born at 31 weeks and is still in NICU , hopefully he will be home soon. My 4yo is in reception , and I am really worried about all the bugs he brings home.
Has anyone been in this situation ? My baby is tiny and might come home soon as 35 weeks.

I brought my prem baby home a few months ago weighing 3lb 15oz (26 weeker) and I have two primary aged children. There will be bugs... But we wash hands straight after school/when we get home and change out of school uniform before holding baby. Also didnt have any school friends over for quite a while.
Congratulations x

I remember being warned the biggest risk is the older child trying to pick up and carry the baby. Because lo is doll size older sibling thinks it’s easy and quite logical to them to pick them up. Was told about a three year old who carried a baby downstairs 😳
Hygiene wise we didn’t use public transport, kept up the hand washing and gelling you get used to in NICU. Very prem baby grew up to be a tough as old boots 😀
Congratulations on leaving NICU, lovely though they are you’re glad to leave.
