Civil service jobs?

Leading off from another thread. I've been a teacher for 20 years. Tired. No progress up the ladder for senior management. I love teaching- actual teaching- but it got me thinking. Someone was asking about earning good money in the civil service and to be honest, I didn't even know what they meant so went on their website and looked at jobs. If I was to leave teaching, what else could I do? To be on the same salary (or more), using what skills I have acquired, what else could I do?

This website explains all about the different types of job and different departments in the CS. https://www.civil-service-careers.gov.uk/ Have a look here, then have a look on CS jobs using the filters (maybe by location or department) and see if there is anything of interest? You should know that many CS departments are on a recruitment freeze / potentially making redundancies at the minute but you will still be able to see what vacancies there are for external candidates. None of us can really tell you what you might be able to do without an idea of your skills and interests so the careers site will give you a bit of a steer.

Hi, I'm also a teacher and have been teaching 16 years. Since having a family I find I'm exhausted and feel so drained from the job! I'm also curious as to what others do when they have left teaching. I would love to be able to leave work at work and have my evenings and weekends back! I have heard many go into the civil service but no idea what roles would suit.
