What's DVSA's Policy on This?

I had to cancel my DVSA theory test at short notice due to an illness. Under their rules, I would only be entitled to a refund, if I sent them an e-mail with proof of my illness from my GP. I have this proof from my GP, however, how likely is it that they will call my GP to confirm this illness? This is as my GP has recently gone on maternity leave so I am not sure if she will be able to be contacted and I am not sure if they even verify at all - if they do, then I do not want to have to wait until she returns from maternity leave to get the money back.

Your medical records can be confirmed by another GP in the practice if required.

What an absolute waste of NHS time.
