If you sell eggs from your home

Would you appreciate someone leaving a bunch of empty egg boxes in your little sales box/hut?

I have loads of clean cardboard egg boxes. There are a few houses around my rural area who keep chickens and they have little stands outside their houses with an honesty box for people to buy the eggs.

If you do this, would you appreciate having empty boxes left, or would you feel like someone has dumped their rubbish on you?

Would just prefer to have them reused if possible. I was thinking of maybe 6 or 8 egg boxes across a number of different sellers.

I don’t know any of the people who live in the houses so would feel awkward knocking in to offer them the boxes- worried they’d be put on the spot if they felt they couldn’t decline.

You could always leave a note? 'Hi, I'm XX, I have a bunch of spare egg cartons that I'm happy to leave for you, just don't want you to think they're junk! Can you text me on XX if this is something you'd like?'

Just knock - better than dumping something they don't want on them. If they sell eggs via an honesty box system the chances are they are nice kind people!

In our market hall there is a stall that sells eggs from a local farm. They have a sign asking for the cardboard boxes back (clean ones obviously). I'd assume from that the boxes aren't that cheap and that there might be a demand for clean used ones. I'd suggest you knock on one of the doors and ask - you might even make a new friend or get a few free eggs!
