How much do you drink a day - and what?

Just wondering as I'm nosey and bored 😂

I'll caveat by saying I don't like 'normal' tea, coffee, or alcohol.

  • Mug of lemon/hot water when I wake up. Yet to see the supposed health benefits of this 😏
  • A bottle of water whilst working out
  • Probably another 5-6 glasses of water during the workday
  • A herbal tea (lemon/ginger or berry) or Chai latte whilst doing the homework/dinner/bedtime routine
  • A 'nice' soft drink after DS is asleep - j20, still lemonade, juice, fun version of Fanta... Plus maybe another glass of water.

My 'downfall' is being out and about - most days I probably end up buying a sprite in the petrol station, or a fruit cooler in a coffee shop. Or a Diet Coke if I'm running on no sleep!

One mug of coffee in the morning.
Big mug of tea mid morning.
Two mugs of Whittards fruit tea in the afternoon, Lychee and Rose is my favourite.
Can of Pepsi Max or Sprite with dinner.
Mug of Whittards Dreamtime or Horlick at bedtime.
Two or three large glasses of weak lemon squash during the day.
always use my filter jug for water because we’re in a hard water area.

NeedthatFridayfeeling · 12/01/2025 11:28

I'm really bad, 2 coffees in the morning, a decaf or 2 in the afternoon, never enough water, some days I'll go to bed realising i haven't had any all day, I'm trying to improve that, no squash anymore as the dentist told me even the sugar free stuff damages your teeth due to the acidity in them.
Alcohol 3 nights a week, wine, maybe 3 large glasses.

Gamerlady · 12/01/2025 11:30

I drink only latte's and possibly drink around 8 a day, nothing else.

Sunnnybunny72 · 12/01/2025 11:30

Two or three cups of decaf coffee. Possibly a can of Diet Coke. That's it.

Oooh this makes me want to do a little Whittards haul 😋 I haven't tried the Lychee and Rose one. Do adore the Dreamtime, but haven't had it in years!

am I the only one who drinks 5 cups of coffee plus a bottle of Malbec (Sauvignon blanc in the hotter months obviously)?

To be fair the habits on here are far healthier than I see from my colleagues (and me in the past 😵‍💫 - I survived lockdown in retail by drinking about 8 diet cokes/red-bulls a day)

Half a bottle of Pinot for breakfast.

Couple if neat gins for lunch.

2 bottles of Thunderbird for dinner.

Oh and a glass of water before bed. Don't want to overdo it.

Only half a bottle? Are you sure you get enough nutrients that way? 😏

@LittleRedRidingHoody Honestly it’s gorgeous! I stocked up in their New Year sale. Go on, treat yourself, you’ll love it.

Sugarnspicenallthingsnaice · 12/01/2025 11:39

Fresh black coffee to start. Maybe another after lunch if I need the boost.

A green or herbal tea (currently pandan) mid morning.

2-3 litres of water.

Magnesium 'sleep tea' at bedtime.

I don't like sweet or milky drinks and hardly drink alcohol anymore.

zingally · 12/01/2025 11:41

I know I don't drink enough. Trying to drink more though!
Average work day:

  • Usually finish off the very weak squash I've had in a bottle by my bed overnight. Anything from 150-400ml.
  • Take a travel mug of coffee to drink when I arrive at work. Think it's about 500ml and drink most of it.
  • Over the day I try and drink all of my 600ml drinks bottle, but don't always manage it. Very weak squash.
  • A mug of coffee when I get home.
  • Probably about 500ml of weak squash between getting home and going to bed.

My wee is pretty vibrantly yellow and can be quite smelly, so I know I'm not drinking enough. I just don't really get a big thirst on, particularly this time of year.

NailsHairNipsHeels · 12/01/2025 11:55

My aim for this year is to drink more

Last year I lived off coffee and irn bru
3-4 cups of coffee a day
3cans of irn bru and next to no water

Now I've changed it to 2 cups of coffee
1can of irn bru with my dinner
1.5-2L of water.

I'm only 12 days in but managing to
Keep it up and I think I feel better for it

SnowyIcySnow · 12/01/2025 12:09

Not enough - 1.5l on a low intake day.

Water with breakfast.
Water with lunch.
Maybe squash mid afternoon.
Water with dinner.

Maybe red wine in the evening.

merryhouse · 12/01/2025 12:13

Tea half-pint x3 - rising, after lunch, after dinner
Coffee half-pint x2 - after rising tea, after work
PLJ with fizzy water - 3 or 4 pints throughout day
beetroot juice 100ml with dinner

Couple of evenings a week about half pint water during activity
Occasionally decaff instant made with half a pint of hot milk

When I'm in the office I don't have the lunchtime tea or as much fizzy water, and I drink maybe a pint of plain water

weekends slightly different - include coffee mid-morning, pint of beer Fri/Sat evenings, either wine or elderflower cordial and some parsnip sherry or a g&t on Sunday

I had a phase of drinking green tea or white tea, and for several years we had various boxes of herb tisanes (I would have peppermint going to bed because it didn't clash with the toothpaste). There's some flavoured tonic in the fridge that we didn't drink over Christmas.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 12/01/2025 12:18

Tea (normal with soy milk, or various black or green teas without milk)
Water
Occasionally a black coffee - max one a day and often none.
White wine, beer, g&t at the weekend, but not that much and usually only one day
I don't drink fruit juice or other soft drinks.

LionRumpus · 12/01/2025 12:23

I'm really lucky because my favourite drink is water. I have about seven or eight large glasses a day of water, maybe more.

I do have a fondness for sugary caffeinated pop, but I don't drink that every day.

I don't drink alcohol unless I'm on a night out.

I absolutely can't stand being dehydrated. It baffles me how people spend all day every day being dehydrated. The headaches, the weariness, the grumpiness - how people can stand to live like that eludes me.

Flipflops123 · 12/01/2025 12:26

Mint green tea with vanilla when I wake up
1 Coffee with cream
About 8 glasses of water.
1 can Diet Coke.

BalladOfBarry · 12/01/2025 12:33

Endless tea or black coffee.
Glass of water before bed.
It's rare for me to drink anything else, really, but I will to be sociable.

I don't like to drink my calories.

Iwontlethtesungodownonme · 12/01/2025 12:40

Many cups of hot water.

Hi op. I drink
decaf coffee first thing
Hot lemon and honey water
2litres of water
apple cider vinegar in a glass of water
somedays I might have a cup of tea but I prefer decaf coffee :)

DelphiniumBlue · 12/01/2025 12:46

On a work day, I’ll have a mug of tea or herbal tea before I leave the house, then take a thermal mug of coffee with me, which I drink during the morning. I have a second thermal cup for another herbal tea for the afternoon, or occasionally water.
More tea when I get home, maybe 2 or 3 cups over the evening, and another herbal tea for bed. Maybe a can of Trip or a cawstons fizzy can occasionally. Glass of white wine a few times a week. Glass of water when I remember, not often enough.

DaDaDoDaiDa · 12/01/2025 12:47

Dissolvable vitamin tablet in pint of water when I get up
A few peppermint teas during the day
Tap water when thirsty at odd times
Sparkling drink in the evening, e.g. apple juice, Coke Zero decaf
Tap water by the bed at night to sip if thirsty

ThatsNotMyTeen · 12/01/2025 12:50

Not enough really

2 coffees
i have a Stanley cup filled with squash but just sip at it
glass of sparkling water with dinner and another in the evening
2 or 3 cups decaf or peppermint tea

no alcohol or fizzy drinks other than sparkling water and a very occasional alcohol free fruit cider

crosstalk · 12/01/2025 13:08

2 strong cups of tea in the morning. The first is the best drink of the day!
One or two flat whites before 2pm.
Water - usually sparkling - about 2 litres during the day.
A trip or ginger ale when out. Or tomato juice.
Livin' high.

fivebyfivebuffy · 12/01/2025 13:26

On a work day

5 big mugs of tea
1-2l very diluted sugar free squash
Sometimes a can of zero sugar pop or a hot chocolate at night

Not work day

Less tea!
Everything else the same
