What do you want for Valentine’s Day?

(If you celebrate Valentine’s Day)

My DP has asked me what I want for Valentine’s Day, and I can’t think of anything at the top of my head.

Harry Styles.

Fluffyholeysocks · 11/01/2025 12:03

Nothing, waste of money.

PigInAHouse · 11/01/2025 12:05

Is it the sort of occasion where you give a wish list?! We don’t do Valentine’s Day but I thought those who did just tended to buy cards/chocolates/flowers?

A big pink, padded card with a knob joke. Obviously.

Never celebrated it, and I’m now single, but if asked, I would say time. Please take a day off and spend it doing something we can enjoy together. For me, that would be a lovely walk, pub lunch, spot of mooching down the high street, then movie or tv with a tipple. What would it be for you?

This is even more hilarious because I’m in a same sex relationship 🫣

I don't have a partner but if I did, I would like some new books, or a day out with nice lunch/coffee and to the bookshop.

I like getting flowers too.

If there isn't anything you want, why not suggest they plan something for you to do together instead?

Ignore the posters who will fall over themselves to tell you how stupid Valentine's day is. Fair enough if they don't like it but I'll never understand why people need to piss on everyone else's chips instead of just letting them enjoy it.

Doggymummar · 11/01/2025 12:10

It's not something we do.

Not usually. It’s the first time I’ve been asked what I wanted for Valentine’s Day!

It's a load of commercialsed rubbish so I'm happy with nothing (have been married to close to 30 years though so maybe I'm old and cynical!)
Would rather get flowers and chocolates throughout the year for no reason rather than because 'everyone' is 'meant' to get them on a set day.

Helpful, thank you

Is there something you would like?

StillAtTheRestaurant · 11/01/2025 12:12

It's not the type of occasion where you have to be asked what you want, surely? Flowers or chocolates, job done.

Oops, I didn't see that someone else had already pointed this out. You could ask for Lego flowers I suppose.

Needmorelego · 11/01/2025 12:14

@Spicykitten what are your favourite treats?

Needmorelego · 11/01/2025 12:16

@Spicykitten some people really are the Valentine version of Scrooge aren't they?
Ignore them ❤️

@Spicykitten what are your favourite treats?

Crisps (all of the crisps), Guylian sea shell chocolate and Rafaello chocolate

I have been married for almost 45 years and DH still buys me flowers, chocolates and other gifts throughout the year BUT he also always buys me a card for Valentines Day and often a small gift.

We sometimes go away for the night, sometimes go out for the day, sometimes go out for a nice meal in the evening, sometimes get a takeaway or sometimes cook a lovely meal together.

It's not an either/or situation although many on here seem to think it is

Omg. Yes, LEGO flowers. I’d love the new Pretty Pink Bouquet 💐

@Spicykitten I'm a crisp obsessive too 😁
Maybe ask for a selection of whatever the limited edition crisps are available (there's some new Walkers ones coming out) and have a crisps tasting session in the style of a wine tasting one !
That reminds me......I still have a bag of Christmas ones to try.

AllTooWellTV · 11/01/2025 12:26

My husband out at work for the night so I can have a bath and eat chocolates whilst watching rom coms

StillAtTheRestaurant · 11/01/2025 12:28

Sorted then. Lego bouquet and a big bag of crisps to eat while you're building it.

Needmorelego · 11/01/2025 12:29

@StillAtTheRestaurant that sounds perfect and I'm not even the OP 😁
(although crumbs in the lego......😱)

Deebee90 · 12/01/2025 20:33

I’ve not been asked but I’d love some flowers and a card. It’s our first one together so I’d like to be spoilt. We aren’t working that day so I’m hoping we can go for a nice walk and then grab a meal too.
