Motivational podcast recommendation or other tips to start the day?

I do what can be a fairly stressful job. I need to stay in it for various reasons. Also I often like the work and have lovely colleagues/manger.

i am trying to work on being more positive.
I start the day determined to stay positive but then i forget!! This week I heard myself say something grumpy that I didn’t even particularly mean.

Maybe a good podcast to listen to in the mornings? Something short and motivational!

I think you should think deeper. If you're being snappy and you're stressed you probably need some quiet and to look after yourself more.

Katherine May is wonderful. I love her books but she also does a pod. If you have audible then wintering and enchantment are beautiful, though I have the hardbacks.

How to fail with Elizabeth Day is also good.

I would try and do a little meditation in your day perhaps (you can podcast too of course) but rather than trying to force yourself into a positive mindset, try and nourish yourself and find some quiet and calm?

Oh and Young Again on sounds is a lovely series.

Really helpful thanks. Yes maybe it’s flawed to think I’m “forgetting” to be positive. I will have a think about this and check out you the recommendations thank you.

Could you start a gratitude journal? Every morning type/write 3-5 things you are grateful for and why

Rainynightinsoho · 11/01/2025 10:52

Maybe. I feel like that would be tricky to keep up in the hectic morning routine. I also get bored easily. But maybe building ten mins or so for myself in to the routine might be good. I already start early though.

Do you listen to music in the car?

Maybe think about what really makes you happy and make a special playlist. Something just for you to bring a little joy before work.

I've had to come to terms with a smaller amount of joy due to chronic illness and what life has thrown at me. I've learned that finding joy is something we neglect and do quite superficially. Songs, books, poetry, nature, calm...these things are so valuable but get missed in the noise of life. It's really important to try and connect with what makes you happy and what makes you 'you'. Joy in small things is good.

Like that poem about the orange 🍊

Sorry...I'm a bit of a hippy at heart (though people wouldn't necessarily think it) and I'm the ripe old age of fifty. I feel the urge to share my ..err ... Wisdom for what it's worth 😁

I do listen to music. Funnily enough have just been going through a stack of old CDs with DS.
The message of remembering what makes us happy is a good one.
Went to the cinema for first time in months too and remembered how much I enjoyed that.
Sorry to hear about your health.
