I need some new lighting to replace the Christmas glow...

As the title says really, the kitchen and sitting room are now so dull and dark. I miss the glow on the kitchen windowsill of the candle arch.

Can anyone recommend some nice decorative lighting they have, please?

thank you!

I have some battery operated candles that flicker.

LancashireSquirrel · 10/01/2025 22:40

@Peridot1 I found some battery candles earlier and have put one of those on the windowsill. It's not quite what I'm after but it will do for now while I keep looking!

I bought a lantern that I added a super realistic LED to and a hurricane vase with twinkly fairy lights. The house was looking so bare that it has given a bit of coziness.

Simple hurricane candle holders are really effective for a warm, cosy glow. Or fairy lights.

I have two lava lamps and fairy lights round my mirror which really cheer me up.

Inlimboin50s · 10/01/2025 23:21

I leave my fairy lights over the fireplace and cooker hood up all year round. Makes me feel cosy and happy.

@LancashireSquirrel - yes it’s not quite the same as fairy lights. Or the candle arch - that’s what I miss too.

We've got LED strips surrounding the front and back windows. Remote control and can change the colour or have the colours cycling.

Looks nice outside and in. Putting on red does raise a smile or two.

Put your arch back in the window
My tree is still up. I care not!

Good for you Smile I like the special feeling of saving the Christmas lights for the festive season only.. but I can totally see why you still have it up! 🎄

I have a salt lamp. They get panned on Mumsnet, but I've got one on a side table in the lounge with a pale wooden base (most of them are dark wood and it doesn't look as nice imo). It creates a lovely warm glow.

Snowmanscarf · 12/01/2025 16:09

I’ve lit candles.
