Shower broke - how do I use bath in morning

sorry if this is a silly question but I’ve never had a bath in the morning. Our electric shower broke.

bath doesn’t have a shower attachment - what do I do to wash my hair in it, and then wash myself - quickly - before I need to drop off and go to work.

i just can’t fathom how this will work

Get a jug and fill with water to rinse your hair.

Bend your knees so you can lay the rest of you down in the bath. Shake shampoo out of hair underwater (you'll be forever rinsing with a jug unless hair is short). Clip hair up out of the way and wash the rest of you.

Run the bath while you're getting other stuff ready. In bath, wash face, then wet hair with jug of clean bathwater. Shampoo hair then rinse with more jugs of bath water. Appy conditioner. * Wash body in sudsy water that shampoo's been rinsed into. Let bathwater out, and while it's draining, fill the jug with clean running water to rinse the conditioner out. Keep filling and rinsing till hair is clear. All done.

*Or use 2 in 1 for speed.

Put shampoo on first lay down and dip your hair into the water (no bubbles/ clean water)

Put conditioner on, with a jug put taps on and fill jug to rinse until soap is all gone

Then wash both and rinse with the water in the bath or the jug with clean water out of tap

MumChp · 10/01/2025 02:49

Does it need to be washed? You might be able to skip a day.

You have a bath? Use a jug or a mug. It works.

Autumn1990 · 10/01/2025 02:49

If you have mixer taps just put head under running taps to wet and rinse hair.

MJconfessions · 10/01/2025 02:52

Just assume everything will take longer. If you’re awake now, why don’t you just go and wash your hair now?

All you need to do is get a jug or something to rinse your hair with fresh water. Don’t rinse your hair with water in the bath.

Buy a tap diverter valve and screw it into the tap. I have no idea what you call the tap but it screws into! Connect your old shower hose and head to it and voila a new shower but using your bath tap. There are plenty of you tube videos. I bought my valve for about a tenner on Amazon.

This is in case you don’t have an electric shower for longer obviously doesn’t help you today.

Some great advice by everyone. I second what @Ciderisrosier says. We have an electric shower in a cubicle, but we also have bath taps which a shower attachment on them. Makes cleaning the bath easier as can use the shower attachment to rise the bath. Perhaps worth considering as back up for future?

WorriedRelative · 10/01/2025 03:18

You might find it easier to wash your hair in the sink, especially if you have a mixer tap you can get your head under.

user8762456 · 10/01/2025 03:28

I have very long think here and have always washed it in the bath because we didn’t have a shower when I was younger. It’s now habit.

just lie back and dunk the back of your head.
add shampoo and lather
lie back and rinse
add conditioner and wait a couple of minutes
Lie back and rinse. You might need to move the suds in the water away to the tap end of the bath.

dont faff about with jugs etc. it will take ages

Find a gym / leisure centre you can call in to on your way to work.

mathanxiety · 10/01/2025 03:44

Tale a quick bath in in the bathtub. Get out, dry off, moisturize, dress in bathrobe.

Clean your kitchen sink within an inch of its life. Wash your hair in the kitchen sink. Use clean water and a jug to rinse.

Or use dry shampoo.

BobnLen · 10/01/2025 06:19

Probably follow the instructions by PPs of washing hair in bath, and if you hair doesn't feel properly rinsed, fill the sink and dunk your head in it

BeRoseSloth · 28/04/2025 11:58

When we were without ours during a refurb I washed my hair at the kitchen sink. Then a strip wash wherever there was a functioning sink.

OoooopsUpsideYourHead · 28/04/2025 12:06

Just grab a jug and sit in the bath.
