Scottish Power payment plan and credit file

Earlier this year I contacted scottish power to arrange a payment plan - we had run up a balance of £1200 due to direct debit issues - a long story. Anyway, I have checked my credit file tonight and Scottish power is showing as us being in an arrangement to pay. I understand that this is quite a serious marker to have on my credit file and is similar to a default. We were never told that this would happen - not a word.
Could this just be a mistake?

No this is not a mistake, you have entered a payment plan to pay off your debt to your power supplier, this a debt just like a credit card or a loan.

I suppose it depends on whether you were properly informed that it would hsppen. Arrangement to oay is quite a serious negative marker to have
