How to stop cat trying to steal my food?

He's well-fed, taking him to the vets this evening to see if there's anything medical causing this.
He has plenty of food and treats but no matter what I'm eating he will try and eat it. I don't leave anything unattended, but every meal or snack I eat he will try and have a go.
I tell him no, I ignore him and sometimes he gives in and walks off but other times he will keep trying to go for the plate or bowl.
It is frustrating as I feel like I can't enjoy meals anymore at home.

Good call getting him checked by a vet 1st as may be a thyroid problem making him ravenous. But that aside probably shut him out of the room when you’re eating as he’s got into some bad manners and will prob just persist. I do sometimes feed mine bits from my plate but give them an inch…
Hope the vet visit goes well.

I have three cats.

One is like this. For him it's not a medical problem he's just a greedy bastard.

If he annoys me too much I shut him out if the dining room.
