Canada and Trump (any others feeling uneasy?)

I'm Canadian and on the one hand I know Trump is being completely absurd.

It's insulting that he referred to our prime Minister as Governor and Canada as the 51st state.

Now he said he wouldn't take Canada by force but would wage an economic war which is a little nerve wracking.

Any one know what that would mean?

I know he's a blowhard but I find the target of Canada very unnerving.

Honestly while I'd gladly take the USA's housing prices, I'd go bankrupt paying for medical care.
Plus the gun laws are terrifying.

As a fellow Canadian, he disgusts me, but not worried.
He didn't follow through on 90% of what he said he'd do last time either.
I do hope it means we will start to put more money and support into our military.
And it would be a good idea to start refining our own raw goods.

It might help to consider that a lot of what Trump says is aimed at a different audience than the general public. I have no doubt that there are powerful people in Canada who know exactly what the message is.

His economic war is about imposing huge tariffs, which would hurt the US as much as it would us. He thinks the threat of tariffs is going to have Canada kissing his ass. Doug Ford already said he would impose tariffs right back. I'm not a fan of Ford but I like that he didn't wimp out. That little pissant Pierre Poilievre will totally kiss Trump's ass though, tarrifs or no tariffs. Not looking forward to having him as PM.

I'm not a conservative, in fact I used to be a member of the liberal party but I actually think Pierre will hold his own against Trump more than Trudeau.

Not a Canadian, but remember the Orange One hasn’t completed the wall yet- To stop the Haitian Migrants eating the pets of God Fearing Americans ( sarcasm) .Allegedly these migrants get thousands of dollars given to them-
So why do they need to eat cats and dogs?!

Whenever I get really worried about what he’s going to do, which is quite often, I like to think about Four Seasons Total Landscaping which never fails to make me laugh at his pure patheticness.

I hate Trumps teasing and hate JT even more for the position he’s put the country in for the next 6 months. A total waste of half a year.

His entire political strategy has always been sucking up to power and viciously attacking the opposition, so he will suck up to Trump. I'd be willing to lay out a significant amount of money betting that. He's pretending to be stern with Trump's aggression right now because he wants to be PM, but all the pundits seem to agree that it's just posturing to increase his chances and that when he's elected he'll be brown-nosing and making concessions. After all, when the Liberals nominate LeBlanc or Freeland as leader he could have some real competition again. So he's being careful not to seem too pro-Trump.

Poilievre will more than hold his own against Trump and should get on well with the likes of Vance.

Trudeau has to go down as the worst Canadian PM in history, my only regret about him quitting is that there will be no more hilarious videos of him getting taken apart in every debate with Poilievre.

PP is an unknown but many policies are highly dependent on the individual provinces.
I'm extremely unhappy with the national debt and the liberals certainly have made that single handedly worse. Since all the libs towed the line and that KF was in that position I sincerely doubt who ever they put forward would be a palatable candidate for me.
To cheer me up this morning I listened to an interview with Chretien.
BC recently had a large number of conservative delegates voted in provincially and honestly I don't see any difference and they have some very good ideas.
I don't use childcare, and my son is on top of the childcare situation in his community and says the government program is a bit of a scam. I don't qualify for the dental program and my dentist made it clear his office will not be participating in the program either.

So he has now imposed the tariffs on Canada and my husband’s Canadian relatives are very angry - one has just cancelled a long awaited holiday to Florida. What a mess.
