GenX The Unanswered Questions

Obviously all generations are welcome on the thread😁but I wondered if GenXers have anything that still puzzles them from childhood.

I don't know why kids who got travel sick (ie me) on school trips were told to sit on newspaper. Was that to protect the seats if you threw up. If it was, do they still do it? Or did we, as a society, think it had magical powers? I don't recall any other mode of transport providing newspaper for unfortunates such as myself at the time 🤔

Ooo and those little rubber strips cards used to have underneath that dragged along the road, weren’t they also to remedy car sickness? Why didn’t we just take a kwell???

@TheBunyip I'm sure I thought they were there to direct lightening when I was a child. 😂

At my nans, we couldn't use the upstairs loo during daylight hours, apparently "decent folk" ie posh people, didn't go upstairs during the day.
Once you were downstairs that was it, no going back upstairs.
We used the outside loo.
I was an adult before I realised posh people didn't actually have an outside lavvy 😂
Also, a "fancy lady" doll whose legs went in the middle of the spare toilet roll and her dress covered the whole thing, since learnt that posh people don't have them either 😂

We kept our living room “for best”.

Only 4 rooms in the whole damn house and one of them was permanently closed off except for the rare occasion we’d have a visitor deemed “front room worthy.”
