Tummy bug or flu? How to feel better?

Two days before work starts again and I feel absolutely rotten. 48h of fever and counting, awful diarrhoea - I’m not even keeping plain crackers and room temp water in. Every bone in my body aches to the point where I can’t even lie in one position in bed.

I don’t know how to feel better. Can’t take the usual lemsip cold and flu as the caffeine triggers awful migraines. Ibuprofen is obvs not ideal with the tummy being how it is.

Any ideas for moving this shitshow (literally 😳) of a start to 2025 on a little faster?

Nothing other than time, unfortunately

@lostonadustyrock feel for you - we came back from Vienna on Friday- within 2 hours of arriving home DH was projectile vomiting with diarrhoea - my spare room had 85 year old father in law as he went away with us - so quickly had to book the premier inn for me - he isolated all day yesterday and today- the sickness and diarrhoea stopped after4 hours-- he feels better today and has eaten small amounts but I've told him to give it to tommorrow morning before wandering around. 2 doses of dioralyte yesterday morning plus a Yakult today seemed to help

You do need to keep your fluids up, have you got electrolytes in?

Or anyone who can drop some off at the door? Please try to nibble at a cracker and speedy recovery

Yes, I’ve taken 2 doses today (3 allowed per day) but I’m not convinced it’s staying in for long enough to actually do much. I know it’s a question of just waiting it out but I’m gutted. I’ve been ill since before Christmas Eve in one way or another (a cold and then a vigorous round of thrush) and I’ve a to do list as long as my arm but can’t seem to get past lying on the sofa under a duvet.

Glad he’s feeling much better. Did your dad escape it? Lucky if so!
