I just had an amazing idea for making Yorkshire pudding mixture!

I always struggle to find something to make my yorkie mix in, I like to pour it out of a jug but it sloshes everywhere if you mix it in the jug. A bowl works for mixing but you struggle to pour from it. I was looking in the cupboard for something to mix it in and then I saw it… the milkshake blender. Holy crap it worked a treat! Measured it all into the blender bottle, blended it up and poured it into the pudding tin. Absolutely ZERO mess! I’ll be making my pudding mix in this all the time from now on!

I mix it in a bowl and pour into a jug, simple

Hesonlyakidharry · 05/01/2025 16:31

I measure the milk out in a jug, flour and evgs in a bowl. Pour milk into bowl to whisk then pour it back into the jug ready to use.
I don’t think i’ve ever made a mess. Don’t like the idea of shaking up the eggs and flour. It wouldn’t mix properly.

I use a 4 pint milk bottle. Shake the crap out of it. Pour and bin. Same for pancakes.

I have a mixing bowl with a pouring spout

RandomMess · 05/01/2025 16:34

Tupperware used to sell a yorkie mixer that is very much like a shake maker.

You just put the ingredients in the correct order and then shake.

i got given one of these for a wedding present, still used over 30 years later

RandomMess · 05/01/2025 16:37

@bruffin which order do you place it in I can't remember from 40 years ago!

rrrrrreatt · 05/01/2025 16:38

I mix it in a bowl and ladle it into the tin. 2/3 of a ladle is the perfect amount for my tin!

Oneofusisdead · 05/01/2025 16:39

Great idea!

i just make it up as i go along!, although think liquid goes first as i put flour first at xmas and there was a pit left in the bottom.

CrikeyMajikey · 05/01/2025 16:45

I do it in my blender. Works a treat.

Laserwho · 05/01/2025 17:02

Milk eggs and flour go into a jug and I mix it by hand. Perfect every time. You mention Yorkshire pudding makers , is it one of those horrible powers u add water to? If so, yuck

Katy232425 · 05/01/2025 17:10

I have a mixing bowl with a handle and pouring spout. Or a jug the size and shape of a mixing bowl if you prefer to think of it that way.

Mix with an electric whisk, makes no mess at all.

Hohofortherobbers · 05/01/2025 17:21

I use the nutribullet

Hoppinggreen · 05/01/2025 17:27

Well I am not sure Nora Batty would approve but why not?

piefacedClique · 05/01/2025 17:31

I use my nutribullet! Bloody brilliant!

That's how I do it too and they are perfect every time. I don't measure or weigh anything though just do it by eye.

RandomMess · 05/01/2025 18:25

Yes eggs and flour mix until all the lumps are gone then add milk. I never weigh the flour just go by consistency.

GellerYeller · 05/01/2025 18:32

I use a protein shake maker too. No need to measure ingredients, as I can tell from the height of the mixture. Really handy for pancakes, as you can pop it in the fridge for later if you make too much mixture for one sitting.

CorvusPurpureus · 05/01/2025 19:12

Yep, smoothie maker all the way for YP/pancake batter.

See also: salad dressings, eggs for frittata & guacamole.

I basically use mine as a back up mini food processor for anything that's got too much liquid to do in the spice grinder 😎

ShowOfHands · 05/01/2025 19:15

I do it in the smoothie maker as well. It works perfectly.
