Talking of soup…….

A lot of mention of soup on another thread about healthy lunches.
on a recent trip to Holland I had a meal in a supermarket cafe of a traditional soup - think it was split pea with sausage…whatever it was filling and fab. I bought some pouches to bring home but sadly it’s gone. I have looked online but don’t recognise some of the ingredients and it look quite complicated to make. Can anyone recommend a simple recipe for a good hearty healthy soup that they use.

The less rustic variety of pea soup involves using frozen peas instead of split peas and adding more liquid including heavy cream. I've done a halfway house sometimes- make a base from split peas, freeze some of it and refine what's left with extra veggies and liquid.

Traditionally served on New Year's Day in the Netherlands, this thick and hearty split pea soup recipe has become emblematic of Dutch winter food.
