Anyone have any ideas why my scar may be itchy?

I had a c section 16 years ago, never had a single problem with the scar since, last two weeks just that spot has become increasingly itchy, no obvious reason. It doesn’t look infected, not red, not hot to touch, just that one area.

anyone have any suggestions? I’m sure it’s not anything sinister but I’m getting really annoyed as it’s just irritating.

any ideas welcome!

Nerve damage is a possibility

Mulledjuice · 04/01/2025 21:31

Clothing rubbing against it?
Hormonal changes?

Leafy3 · 04/01/2025 21:32

Could be as simple as dry skin?
I have an abdominal scar that can get itchy if I've neglected moisturising

The clothes nope, I’ve not gained or lost any weight at all for ages, same clothes I’ve had for years. I am 47, would my nerves not have been damaged all this time?

A stitch may be working its way up? Moisturise as a pp says. Keep an eye on it.

in that area it’s possible to get irritated anyway. Fungal etc.

My c-sec scar is a bit itchy OP, it’s almost 30 years old!
When I mentioned it to the GP she wasn’t bothered, said it happens sometimes, nothing to worry about.

My abdominal scars were fine until after covid jabs. They now itch like crazy and breakdown when scratched.
Obviously no link

ok thanks, will moisturise more and keep eye, it’s not even inflamed or angry looking just itchy all the way across the whole thing.

Bio oil dry skin gel is good for scars you can get it in home bargains for about £2
(Some times of super itchy I use bite and sting cream 1% hydrocortisone , but I know I shouldn't!)

Mine is 17 yrs old and over the years I’ve had periods of it being itchy. I thought it was normal

Onlyonekenobe · 04/01/2025 22:44

Mine itches each winter like Harry Potter, it knows cold dry air and central heating is coming 😂. Not like I parade it around unclothed, but it still knows! Def moisturise. Perimenopause doesn’t help either 🙄

LoafofSellotape · 04/01/2025 22:48

It's because snow's on the way,all my scars tighten/ itch when there's a change in the weather.

Inarightpickleandpreserve · 05/01/2025 19:03

Thanks for the suggestions, I’ve been to get some bio oil and I have high hopes!
Another question was would it be a bad idea to use baby powder on it? It doesn’t fold over as such but it’s of course nowhere near flat! Is baby powder a terrible idea?

The bio oil gel, feels smooth and nice I'm not sure about talc, it's not a thing I like so never tried it ( talc kinda freaks me out not sure why!)
